VP of Utilities Solutions with Sustainability Consulting Firm - Portland, OR

Position Overview:
The Utility Solutions Team has an immediate need for a Vice President located in our Portland, Ore., headquarters. The VP of Utilities Solutions will report to the President.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Attract and retain a high-functioning, quality management team in order to increase the firm’s energy efficiency products and services while meeting all key financial targets set
• Develop top-level strategic relationships with all key accounts in order to drive firm’s strategic vision, understand client needs and set the tone for firm as a leading professional services organization
• Develop internal growth strategies maximizing efficient resource utilization, communication and collaboration across firm in support of its matrix organization.
• Bring proven organizational effectiveness experience and change management expertise to the table, while creating a shared strategic and operational vision for the firm’s teams.
• Actively participate in all Executive-driven initiatives.
• Champion the firm’s growth objectives and provide recommendations regarding new functions, staffing structure and technology to support the growth of our infrastructure.
• Manage organizational growth and risk through the adoption of thorough, efficient operational procedures including status reporting, staff meetings, operations reviews and ultimately dashboards and key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with our internal departments to create a roadmap of products and services needed by clients and prospective clients.
• Create a self-service culture and capability within the firm by driving the creation of the Intranet website and by developing requirements for additional technology.
• Lead project selection, scope definition, and ensure alignment with business vision and strategy.
• Be responsible for the identification of resources and steering teams, project managers, working groups, and expenses/cost.
• Track and monitor project deliverables for each phase, ensuring that deliverables meet user and business expectations.
Skills and Qualifications:
The VP of Utilities Solutions will bring a willingness to challenge traditional approaches, with a focus on creativity and innovation in your work and in your approach. This includes effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills along with excellent negotiation, presentation and public speaking abilities. You must be a visible leader with a bias toward spending time with customers, employees and other industry participants.
• Bachelor's degree. An advanced degree in business management, environmental policy, energy management is preferred.
• At least 15 years of progressive, professional experience in a consultative role in utilities, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and/or electric technologies.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading and directing others including cross-functional and matrix-managed teams, demonstrating successful leadership of large teams (including managers).
• Experience in business development and expertise in operating as a strategic owner for a portfolio of business projects.
• Customer service and quality product orientation, with a reputation for integrity, openness and forthrightness.
• Proven successful track record of designing and implementing a services framework within a large, complex organization.
• Strong background in managing P&L and/or departmental budgets, with experience in financial and marketing analysis.
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work in diverse and matrix-structured organizations.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office, including MS Project.
