Development Manager: £35k-£45k plus benefits

HSE management position in leading environmental consultancy

Our client, an environmental consultancy recognised as one of the UK’s top employers in the environmental sector, is seeking a Development Manager to join its Strategy and Development Group (SDG). This position comes with the opportunity to learn from working within the most senior commercial team in the company with many nationally renowned individuals. The expectation is that the Development Manager will be given an opportunity to achieve a Development Director position in a relatively short period.

The role will suit a high calibre individual who has strength in their commercial ability with an aptitude to solve business issues.

The job…
•    Grow compliance, sustainable development, management system, resource efficiency and climate change business regionally, nationally, and internationally through focused account management and leading new business development opportunities.
•    Focus on developing and maintaining key accounts and support or lead new business development initiatives to gain market share with corporate and public sector clients, utilising existing client contacts.
•    Deliver technically excellent work as project manager, director or senior contributor.
•    Contribute to or lead strategic commercial planning for agreed client sectors, regional business development and agreed national initiatives.
•    Mentor and train staff at all levels of seniority within the business to facilitate wider appreciation and selling of these integrated services to targeted key accounts and clients.
•    Work with colleagues to develop new product offerings and contribute to consistent delivery and market/product knowledge across all offices.
•    Working as a team with colleagues in SDG and senior commercial staff in the regions to deliver all of the above.

You…
•    Are educated to degree level in a relevant environmental science, economics or engineering disciple.
•    Probably possess a Chartered level qualification, however this is not essential.
•    Have experience in environmental or Health & Safety consultancy including managing client relationships
•    Experience of managing sales/development plans and an understanding of basic financial metrics.
•    Experience of multi-disciplinary projects going beyond one core technical area.
•    Have a track record of people and team management through large project delivery, business development team leadership or line management.
•    Possess some knowledge of client terms and conditions of contract and a track record of successful business development.
•    Experience in advising clients in areas requiring multiple skills is essential.
