Development Director (Planning and EIA): £45-55k plus benefits

Opportunity for a senior-level HSE professional to take a strategic leadership role


Our client, an environmental consultancy recognised as one of the UK’s top employers in the environmental sector, is seeking a Development Director to join its Strategy and Development Group (SDG). This position has opportunities to shape and develop the integration of the company’s services offered to environmental/ planning/economic development sector clients. There is a need to build teams to support the growth and breadth of services to key account clients, in due course the Development Director could lead selected client sectors.


The job…
•    Grow development strategy, strategic planning, town and country planning, sustainable built development and EIA services regionally, nationally, and internationally through focused account management and the leading of new business development opportunities.
•    Focus on developing and maintaining private and public sector key accounts who are regular users of such services and to cross selling other services offered across the business.
•    Lead new business development initiatives to gain market share within the economic and built development sectors, utilising existing client contacts.
•    Deliver technically excellent work as project director to enhance market and client reputation.
•    Contribute to or lead strategic commercial planning for the development client sectors, regional business development and agreed national initiatives.
•    Lead the integration of individual products for private sector clients with other relevant consulting and Carillion services to form a broader single product delivery capability.
•    Mentor and train staff at all levels of seniority within the business to facilitate wider appreciation and selling of these integrated services to targeted key accounts and clients.
•    Work to develop new product offerings and contribute to consistent delivery and market/product knowledge across all company offices.
•    Working as part of a team with colleagues in SDG and senior commercial staff across the regions.
You…
•       Are educated to degree level in a relevant environmental science, economics or engineering disciple.
•    Have experience in environmental or H&S consultancy including experience managing client relationships.
•    Have account and client management experience at a senior level within the same / similar environment and experience of multi-disciplinary projects going beyond one core technical area.
•    Have experience managing sales/development plans and an understanding of basic financial metrics.
•    Possess a track record of people and team management through large project delivery, business development team leadership or line management.
•    Familiar and comfortable in working with Corporate clients at manager and board level.
•    Familiar with technical and business language of environmental, sustainability and health and safety services
•    A track record of successful business development
